Information For Librarians

The  Brazilian Journal of Radiation Sciences, ISSN 2319-0612. is an open access, peer-reviewed scientific journal, published by Brazilian Radiation Protection Society. It comes at a time when, as spokespersons for professionals working in radiation protection, the radiation protection societies around the world face the challenge of promoting a culture of protection and safety, wherever there is work with radiation, including hospitals and other medical facilities, industries, nuclear plants, universities and research laboratories, as well as other facilities that use radiation sources.

In addition to X-rays and nuclear radiation, the Journal will also address the topic of non-ionizing radiation. The Journal will cover the main disciplines of radiation-related sciences, including physics, chemistry, biology and medicine. Topics of radiation protection will be addressed, such as: Biological and Health Effects of Radiation, Natural Radiation; Radiation Protection of Patients, Workers, and Members of the Public, Radiation Measurements and Dosimetry, Nuclear Law, International Recommendations and Regulations, Protection of the Environment, Education and Training, Technology and Development, Communication with Society, Stakeholder Engagement and Involvement, Safety Culture and Risk Perception, Emergency Preparedness and Response, Radioactive Waste Management and Decommissioning, Safe Transport of Radioactive Materials, Nuclear Safety, Safeguards and Security of Radioactive Material.

One way to implement a radiological protection culture is through the creation of adequate and appropriate communication processes between all actors involved in the practice of radiation protection. For this reason, the Brazilian Radiation Protection Society - SBPR, a society associated with the IRPA, identifies the publication of a scientific journal as an opportunity to increase the dissemination of knowledge in this important area, involving all actors in decision-making processes related to radiation protection. Hence the wide range of topics covered by the journal.

By providing a framework that allows for constructive dialogue with other stakeholders, we aim to reach all actors involved in radiation-related activities, including radiation protection specialists, physicists, physicians, as well as equipment designers and suppliers.
